AREAS OF PRACTICE CEREBRAL PALSY
Cerebral Palsy is a permanent condition that results from damage to the cerebrum-the part of the brain responsible for motor skills and coordination. Difficulties with movement and muscle control characterize this disorder, which is really a group of chronic disorders. Cerebral Palsy is often the result of a birth injury, sometimes due to medical negligence.
Although the symptoms vary greatly in severity and can change over time, a brain-damaged baby who suffers from Cerebral Palsy means a lifetime of difficulty and often requires extensive and costly special care. Failure to recognize and address problems during labor, waiting too long to respond to identified problems, forceps or vacuum delivery, or vaginal birth after a C-section, which may result in a ruptured uterus, can result in Cerebral Palsy. Miller, Curtis & Weisbrod has extensive experience handling Cerebral Palsy cases. Many of these cases are highlighted under our Proven Results page, including a case involving the failure to diagnose fetal distress which resulted in cerebral palsy and a case involving the failure to accurately interpret fetal heart tracings resulted in delayed delivery and cerebral palsy.
"My son Mark was born with cerebral palsy because the hospital failed to diagnose fetal distress. We knew Miller, Curtis & Weisbrod had a good reputation, and by our experience, it's completely deserved. Les Weisbrod fought for our son and secured an $12,171,000.00** settlement to help us care for him. I know no matter what happens to me, Mark will be well taken care of for the rest of his life."
- Client
** A contigent (%) fee charged on the successful recovery resulted in a fee of $93,952.82 and litigation expenses which were reimbursed by the client out of the gross settlement amount.
