Clay Miller

Clay is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Clay has practiced solely in the field of catastrophic injury and wrongful death since graduating from law school. His practice has been limited to the representation of victims. Over the past twelve years, Clay has successfully settled or tried to verdict cases in the areas of vehicular negligence, medical malpractice, construction site accidents, workplace injury, premises liability, and commercial trucking.

Clay was raised in Lewisville, Texas and completed his undergraduate degree in Finance at Texas A & M University. Following graduation from Southern Methodist University School of law, Clay worked for two Dallas firms representing victims. In 1998, Clay began his own practice before forming his current partnership. In addition to his law practice, Clay has lectured at seminars and published in the areas of medical negligence, trucking accidents and settlement techniques. He is active in local and statewide trial lawyers' associations and served as the Chair of the Advocates for the Texas Trial Lawyers' Association in 2002.

William B. Curtis

Bill was born in Fargo, North Dakota, and did his undergraduate work both at North Dakota State University and at Moorhead State University in Minnesota. He completed his under-graduate degree magna cum laude, then moved to Texas; he took his law degree from Baylor University School of Law, and began practicing as a defense lawyer for one of the 25 largest law firms in the state of Texas. After a number of years of defense work, Bill switched sides, and began working exclusively for victims, a practice he continues to this day.

Bill is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a frequent author and speaker, including a contributing author to the “Personal Torts” section of the Annual Survey of Texas Law for the SMU Law Review for a number of years. He has authored papers and speeches on closing arguments, cross examinations, trial strategies, pharmaceutical cases, medical negligence cases, nursing home cases, evidentiary issues and insurance bad faith cases. He is a member of Leader's Forum for the American Association of Justice, and sits on several national committees for AAJ. He is a Fellowship Member and sits on the Board of Directors for the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association. He has earned a membership in the College of the State Bar of Texas, is an invited member to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and has been repeatedly named by Texas Monthly as a Texas Super Lawyer. Bill’s practice includes catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases of all types, with emphasis on pharmaceutical cases, insurance bad faith and medical negligence cases.

Les Weisbrod

Les Weisbrod has been dubbed the "pitbull" of the Texas medical malpractice bar. He has successfully tried numerous medical malpractice jury trials. His tenacity and relentless pursuit of discovery is demonstrated by his appellate cases including: Barnes v. Whittington, 751 S.W.2d 494 (Tex. 1988) (orig. proceeding); Walker v. Packer, 827 S.W.2d 833 (Tex. 1992) (orig. proceeding); and S.A.B. v. Schattman, 838 S.W.2d 290 (Tex. App.--Fort Worth 1992) (orig. proceeding).Mr. Weisbrod is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal
Injury Trial Law and Civil Trial Law.

He is past Co-Chairman of the Birth Trauma Litigation Group of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) and has presented numerous lectures to the organization on birth trauma litigation and on medical malpractice. He is also the founder and first co-chair of the Medical Negligence Information Exchange Litigation Group of ATLA. In 1990, he was chosen as a Rising Star of the ATLA and presented a paper entitled, "Dirt and Greed: A New Look at Medical Malpractice Cases.
He is a lecturer at numerous continuing legal education seminars in the United States, Canada, England, and Australia, on topics including medical malpractice, litigation and punitive damages in malpractice cases.
Mr. Weisbrod is currently serving as President-Elect of the American Association for Justice (formerly ATLA).

Bill Newman is board certified as a Civil Appellate Specialist by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has clerked at a Texas Court of Appeals. He has argued appeals in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Arizona, as well as in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Tenth Circuits. He is committed both to the law and to the rights of personal injury victims. As part of the medical-legal team, Bill works to make certain that each case receives proper consideration by our justice system. |

After obtaining his law license in 1999, Louis was an attorney at an insurance defense firm in Dallas where he defended trucking liability, products liability, construction accidents, medical malpractice, and general negligence cases. He has represented injured victims since 2001 as an associate with Miller, Curtis & Weisbrod. His practice is devoted to trucking liability, construction accidents, medical malpractice and motor vehicle collisions. Louis is a trial lawyer with experience as lead and assistant trial counsel. He was an attorney on three reported cases published by Courts of Appeals in Texas. Louis is admitted to practice in Texas and in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He has also handled cases in Illinois, Georgia and Oklahoma. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Association for Justice (New Lawyers Division - Board of Governors, 2007 - Present); Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Dallas Trial Lawyers Association and the Dallas Bar Association.

Anjel Avant

Anjel has practiced almost exclusively in personal injury litigation since graduating from St. Mary's School of Law in 1991 and has first-chaired more than 150 jury trials to verdict. Before coming to Miller Curtis & Weisbrod, Anjel developed and managed the litigation department of another highly successful personal injury law firm and participated in all types of personal injury cases involving |
severe injuries and wrongful deaths caused by defective products, premise defects, vehicular collisions, and medical negligence.
Outside her regular practice, Anjel has served on various committees with the Dallas Bar Association, and has enjoyed coaching and judging high school mock trial competitions, mentoring at-risk high school students, and has appeared as a speaker on various injury-related topics to Dallas clubs and committees throughout Dallas and Collin County. Additionally, Anjel has hosted law students and lawyers from foreign countries through a program designed to introduce our civil justice system to representatives of foreign legal communities. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Max graduated summa cum laude from Ball State University and cum laude from Indiana University School of Law.
