Louis S. Hakim was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Political Science in 1996. Louis is a 1999 graduate of Southern Methodist University School of Law. Louis is a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society, is a published author in the University of Virginia Journal of Sports & the Law, contributed to Shuman's Psychiatric & Psychological Evidence, and was an invited speaker at a national academic symposium hosted by Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Mass.
After obtaining his law license in 1999, Louis was an attorney at an insurance defense firm in Dallas where he defended trucking liability, products liability, construction accidents, medical malpractice, and general negligence cases. He has represented injured victims since 2001 as an associate with Miller, Curtis & Weisbrod. His practice is devoted to trucking liability, construction accidents, medical malpractice and motor vehicle collisions. Louis is a trial lawyer with experience as lead and assistant trial counsel. He was an attorney on three reported cases published by Courts of Appeals in Texas. Louis is admitted to practice in Texas and in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He has also handled cases in Illinois, Georgia and Oklahoma. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Association for Justice (New Lawyers Division - Board of Governors, 2007 - Present); Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Dallas Trial Lawyers Association and the Dallas Bar Association.
